Coach Amanda Shaw

Coach Shaw has been coaching at Sunny Hills for 7 years.  She has been swimming all her life. She started swimming on a summer team in her neighborhood as a kid and later swam for BREA Aquatics.  She swam at Diamond Bar High School and was team captain her senior year.  As a teenager, she began coaching the same summer team that she swam for as a kid and coached there throughout college.  She went on to swim at Chapman University, being team co-captain her junior and senior years.  At Chapman, she was part of 5 school record relay teams (4 x 50 free relay, 4 x 50 medley relay, 4 x 100 free relay, 4 x 100 medley relay, and 4 x 200 free relay).  Her best events were the 100 and 200 freestyles and 100 and 200 backstrokes.  After college, she coached for two years at Bonita High School before coming to Sunny Hills.  Some of her proudest moments as a coach are seeing a swimmer’s growth throughout the season, witnessing swimmers swim their hardest and get a new personal record.  Coach Shaw loves to watch a swimmer meet a goal they have been trying so hard to accomplish.
